Panelist Profile — Dr. Alok Madan

Dr. Alok Madan Vice Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry and the John S. Dunn Foundation Distinguished Centennial Clinical Academic Scholar in Behavioral Health, Houston Methodist Hospital

Dr. Alok Madan is clinical health psychologist with a 20+ year history of developing clinical, research, and educational programs to improve the quality of care for individuals with chronic medical conditions and serious mental illness. At present, he serves as Vice Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry and the John S. Dunn Foundation Distinguished Centennial Clinical Academic Scholar in Behavioral Health at Houston Methodist Hospital. This endowed position focuses on identifying gut-based contributions to psychiatric illness, especially the development of novel preventive and/or therapeutic treatments to reduce the global burden of psychiatric illness. He is a Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), Baylor College of Medicine, Weill Cornell Medical College, and Houston Methodist Academic Institute. He earned his doctorate in clinical psychology and master of public health degrees from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Shubhra Endley Director of Mental Health and Wellness for Communities In Schools of Houston

Shubhra Endley, Director of Mental Health and Wellness for Communities In Schools of Houston, has more than 20 years of experience in the provision of school-based mental health services to children and families across the greater Houston Area.  Shubhra attended the University of Texas at Austin obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and her Master’s degree in Social Work.  She is a Board Approved Clinical Supervisor and has provided supervision to emerging social workers for over 10 years.  Shubhra has served as adjunct faculty at the University of Houston’s Graduate College of Social Work and a Field Liaison.  She held the position of Regional Board Member for 2 terms with the National Association of Social Workers-Texas advocating at state and local levels for the social work profession and mental health access.

Eric Storch, Ph.D. Professor and McIngvale Presidential Endowed Chair in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Baylor College of Medicine

Eric Storch, Ph.D., is Professor and McIngvale Presidential Endowed Chair in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM). He serves as Vice Chair and Head of Psychology, and co-directs the OCD program at BCM. Dr. Storch specializes in the nature and treatment of childhood and adult obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety disorders, PTSD, and anxiety among youth with autism spectrum disorder. He has received multiple grants to investigate treatment efficacy, mechanisms of action, treatment dissemination, and how to enhance outcomes for those struggling with these conditions.
