ABOUT THE PROGRAM
This presentation includes an overview of common maternal mental health issues such as postpartum depression and anxiety, their risk factors, and prevention methods. Focus is on self-care, building support systems, and seeking professional care when needed.
REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR ALL ATTENDEES PRIOR TO THE EVENT. Check in will begin 15 minutes prior to the program beginning. Due to video filming, late attendees will be asked to view the presentation in the Green Room.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Kim Jones, MA, LPC, LMFT
Kim Jones, MA is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist practicing in Houston, TX. She received her Master of Arts degree in Family Therapy from the University of Houston, Clear Lake in 2013.
In individual psychotherapy and counseling, Kim helps people to work through a variety of presenting problems, including depression, anxiety, pregnancy and postpartum related issues, relationship difficulties, grief, trauma, and family of origin issues. Kim currently works with both adolescents and adults.
In her work with couples, Kim uses a combination of Emotion-Focused Couples Counseling and Gottman principles to work toward positive and lasting change.
In addition to her work in private practice, Kim also also currently works as Associate Clinical Director at The Center for Postpartum Family Health. Kim’s past experience includes working as Director of Teen and Family Services of The Woodlands, as well as a clinical internship working with children, adolescents, and adults at Depelchin Children’s Center and The University of Texas Health Science Center.
Kim does professional speaking in the Houston area on topics including self-care, addiction recovery, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, and relationships. She has been featured on Houston KHOU news, and has presented on the topic of relationship health after children at Postpartum Support International conferences.
